Assistant minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has informed parliament that she is aware that some beneficiaries of the alternative packages were given grants by Gaborone City Council above the limits set in poverty eradication guidelines while some individuals were awarded projects that should have been considered for groups.

She said that this occurrence was noted in Gaborone City Council but has subsequently been corrected, hence no action was taken.

She was responding to a question asked by the Member of Parliament for Gaborone North Mr Haskins Nkaigwa who had wanted to know if she was aware that some beneficiaries of the alternative package programme were given grants far above the set limits and if she was aware where the officers got the authority to exceed the set limits; and what action was taken against the perpetrators.
