Tsabong Primary Hospital mortuary has not been operational for several months due to the disappearance of the contractor who was engaged to repair the mechanical system, Parliament has been told.

Responding to a question asked by the MP for Kgalagadi South, Mr John Toto in Parliament on Tuesday, Assistant Minister of Health Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri said the Department of Buildings and Engineering Services (DBES) recommended termination of the contract on January 18 so that a new contractor could be appointed to finish the work.

He said the hospital had a qualified radiographer with a Bachelor’s Degree in Diagnostic Radiography.

MP Toto had asked the minister if he was aware that Tsabong hospital mortuary had not been operational for several months and that Tsabong Hospital X- Ray department had no qualified officer to take X- rays.

He also wanted to know what action would be taken by the minister to address these problems. ENDS
