Mapalastina ease past Ostriches

01 Dec 2014

Township Rollers humiliated Orapa United  6-1 in a be Mobile Premier League game in Serowe on November 29.

Ensuring that Popa continued with their unbeaten run, Rollers’ match captain, Maano Ditshupo led the onslaught on United by heading home from Obonye Moswate’s cross early first half.

A few minutes later, Kobamelo ‘Swere’ Kebaikanye fired from a tight angle outside the box to beat Ostriches keeper from a near post. Though the Ostriches put up a gallant fight to thwart the marauding Popa machine from a free roll, former BMC FC winger, Motsholetsi Sikele, worsened the visitors’ woes by putting one into the roof of the goalpost.

Just when team Orapa thought they had put up their acts together captain Ditshupo fired to the far post to beg himself a brace and put Popa four goals up.

At four goals advantage, Popa found themselves weaving passes with ease throughout the first half until Segolame Boy crafted a sublime pass on the way of Namibian strongman Jerome Louis who powered to the far post to send Popa multitudes into raptures of joy.

Despite the nocturnal encounter appearing like a one sided act, Ostriches’ ever impressive attacker Hendrick Moyo fired a cracker past Mwampule Masule to save his side some blushes.

Moyo has been a revelation to the mining town side ever since joining from BMC FC and has been a consistent feature on Ostriches score sheet.  However, former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Manqoba ‘Shakes’ Ngwenya put the last nail on the Ostriches coffin to take Popa’s goals to six. Ostriches’ goalkeeper committed an error that gave Ngwenya one of his simplest goals.

Ngwenya, like his teammate Kebaikanye has been on target recently against BMC FC and leading the Popa machine on the merciless roll. ENDS
