LetlhakengKaudwane road costs P14.5m

A sum of P14.5 million has been spent in the maintenance of Letlhakeng/Kaudwane road between 2009 and 2013, according to the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo.

He told Parliament on Wednesday, November 26, that P1 million was used to maintain the road during the 2009/10 financial year, P2. 4 million was spent in the 2010/11 financial year, while P9. 3 million was used in 2012/13.

“The total cost of maintaining this road from 2009 to 2013 was in the tune of P14, 5million,” he said in response to a question from Takatokwane MP Mr Ngaka Ngaka. Mr Mabeo explained that if the road was to be tarred, government would have to spend an estimated P510 million in its construction.

Mr Ngaka had wanted to know the amount spent on maintaining the road between 2009 and 2013, and further to compare and contrast the estimates if the same road were to be tarred. ENDS
