Kalavango Volleyball Club will tonight (November 28)  award their  outstanding players for the year at an awards and gala dinner ceremony to be held at Oasis Motel in Tlokweng. 

The club which was established in 1978 will award three categories each from both men and women. The awards include players of the season, most disciplined player and most improved player. Chairperson of Botswana National Sports Council Solly Reikeletseng will be the guest speaker at the event.

During a press briefing at Lekidi Football centre in Gaborone on Wednesday, November 26 the club chairperson Lesedi Hule said the club being the second oldest volleyball club in Botswana has been relatively successful in recent years hence the decision to award the players. 

He said the women’s team had never finished outside the bronze bracket in all the local competitions they partook in. As for the men’s team, Hule admitted that they have not been doing well after they finished on the 7^th spot in the Mascom Volleyball league. 

He said the team has been performing poorly due to the fact that the club is short on finances therefore it was difficult to retain their players Concerning the awards, he said they will award and recognise players’ commitment to the club and their contribution to the overall success. 

For the men’s team, Monthusi Magosi, Phemelo Lekoko and Daniel Seako have been nominated for player of the season. Nominees for the most disciplined player are Monthusi Magosi, Tlhalefo Mongalewa and Oteng Hendrick. The nominees for the most improved player are Otlaatla Marumo, Karabo Btsang and Thabo Sento. 

As for the women, the nominees for player of the season are Monica Alfred, Gabaresepe Mashaole and Gaolesetse Gasekgonwe. Nominees for most disciplined player are Keromamang Pitso, Collin Moithei and Gabaresepe Gasekgonwe. Most improved player nominees are Collin Moithei, Keromamang Pitso and Magatalena Mongendje. ENDS
