This weekend is the kickoff of Under 15 football league for Central north region football association.

The first league of this kind in the region will feature eight teams and for this season, all the eight teams are from Serowe, central north region football association public relations officer, Solomon Dikgang said in an interview.

Dikgang explained that if the league goes well, they will spread their wings to cover the whole region and through their members and regional Sports Volunteer Movement they would continue mobilising the youth.  Also, he said for now there would be only male’s teams but as the league grows they would include females in the league.

This region encompasses all villages in the Serowe Administration Authority. 

To kick start the league, the region public relations officer said the mother body,Botswna Football Association(BFA) had given them P8 000 and added that at the end of the league the participating teams would be rewarded accordingly. 

The teams in the league, he said, though they had not registered with BFA had all registered with the register of societies. He said throughout the season they teams would be using Serowe Sports Complex for them to adopt playing in the turf.

Their efforts to establish youth league he said would bear dividends for the regional football and subsequently national football would improve. The region spokes person expressed gratitude that some teams that were in the first division had youth teams. These teams are Green lovers and Tsabotlhe FC.

A training on running the youth teams he said would be organised for the selected officials from all youth teams to empower them about youth football administration. Also Dikagang hailed the local coaches who had been organising the football training session every weekend saying that they had laid a good foundation for them.

Meanwhile on Saturday Black force will lock horns with Green lovers while Modern Decorators will play Ngwato Young Fighters and on Sunday Real Modern faces Serokolwane Inter Club while Tsabotlhe FC lock horns with Western Tigers. Kick off time  is 8am. ENDS
