27 Nov 2014

One of the organisers of the Sherwood market day, Ms Kae Ferguson, has promised that the Sherwood market day which would be held on December would be bigger and more loaded with activities than the previous one.

In an interview, Ms Ferguson said the intention of the Sherwood market day would be to bring together the community of Sherwood area. She however said the major change that they would bring to the event will be to build permanent stalls at the place where the event was held and increase the number of people who would display their crafts.

Ms Ferguson said that people from all walks of life such as farmers and traders who would be selling variety of items ranging from handmade jewellery, handmade bags, handmade knitwear, toys, cards, homemade jams, food, fresh produce, gifts, plants and crafts have been invited.

She said they have also invited different traditional choirs to entertain revellers who would be browsing a range of craft stalls.  She said she was hopeful that the market day will attract a lot of people because some have already booked the stalls while others are calling to enquire about the event.

She said the market day will open the doors to the community so that they can showcase the local craft work. She also said some farmers in the Sherwood area do not have the market to sell their products to and it will be their opportunity to sell and market their products.

Ms Ferguson said that the market day will mostly target the tourists and business people who cross the Martins Drift boarder post on daily basis and they would buy the products from the locals.

She said that most of the people who did not know about the country will realize that there are a lot of skilled craftsmen and women in the country. ENDS
