African Stars centre to host football camp

African Stars Sports Development Centre will host a football camp titled Re Tla Kgona African Stars Football Camp from March 28 to April 8.
The official opening will be held on March 28 at Cumberland Hotel in Lobatse.
The objective of the camp would be to provide players with an opportunity to have fun while learning the fundamental techniques necessary to play the game and to help improve the performance of individual players.
The camp would also promote the culture of reading through soccer. Another objective would be to educate players on hygiene, oral health and non-communicable diseases. The centre, in collaboration with Cumberland Hotel, will also host a grassroots football tournament titled Cumberland grassroots football tournament on March 23 at the Old Lobatse Mental Hospital grounds.
The Cumberland grassroots football tournament is an initiative by African Stars Sports Development Centre to engage boys and girls aged 11 and below in football.
The founder of the centre, Kitso Dlamini said as a sports development centre, it was their commitment to give young children an opportunity to express themselves through sports and to nature their talent.
He said the objective of the tournament was to promote football at grassroots level.
The tournament would be played amongst 10 Lobatse primary schools: Peleng West, Maitlamo, Bothakga, Newlook, Hill School, Ipeleng, St Theressa, Pitikwe, Lesedi La Pela and Crescent.
The champions would walk away with a floating trophy, gold medals and P500 prize money while the runners-up will walk away with silver medals
He said Cumberland Hotel was the official sponsor of the tournament at the tune of P5 000, adding that they had agreed with the sponsor to stage the tournament annually hence the trophies will be floating. ENDS
