Ministry reviews bridge design

The Ministry of Transport and Communications says it is reviewing the design of Mohembo Bridge with a view to scaling it down to a more affordable design.
Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Tshenolo Mabeo said the procurement of consultancy services for the design review was at an advanced stage.
Speaking in Parliament on November 19, Mr Mabeo said the recommendation for the award of design review had been submitted for adjudication.“Once awarded the review is expected to take six months. The construction of the Bridge will be considered alongside other priority projects in the next financial year,” said the minister.
He was responding to a question asked by the MP for Okavango Mr Bagalatia Arone, who had wanted to the minister to appraise him on the project.The minister also said the design of the Mohembo–Beetsha road was completed in 2009, but the project was shelved due to the global economic meltdown. ENDS
