Minister attends conservation meet

The Minister of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism, Mr Tshekedi Khama is in Sydney, Australia, for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Parks Congress.

A press release from his ministry stated that whilst in Australia, Mr Khama will also meet with the New South Wales Rural Fire Services Commissioner, Mr Shane Fitzsimmons and the Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Mr Stuart Ayres.

The week-long global forum on parks and protected areas would seek to share knowledge and innovation, setting the agenda for protected areas conservation for the decade to come. 

Building on the theme: Parks, People, Planet: Inspiring Solutions, the release said the congress will also present, discuss and create original approaches for conservation and development, helping to address the gap in conservation and sustainable development.

The minister is expected back on November 20.  He is accompanied by senior government officials from the Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism. ENDS
