BotswanaPost eases lives

16 Nov 2014

BotswanaPost continues to ease the lives of Batswana, especially those living in the rural areas by bringing services nearer to them.

BotswanaPost chief executive officer, Mr Pele Moleta said when briefing the media on the Memorandum of Agreement signed between BotswanaPost and Department of Tourism in Gaborone recently. Mr Moleta said the agreement marked another milestone for BotswanaPost in becoming an icon of excellence.

The partnership will allow for payment of annual license fees, penalties and monthly remittance of tourism industry training levy at the 120 BotswanaPost offices in the country.

Mr Moleta said the tourism operators would no longer travel long distances for such services, adding that Shakawe operators sought the services in Maun, approximately 800km return trip.

He said through their 2011-2016 excellence strategy they seek to diversify their product and service, hence the strategic partnership formed with the tourism department. This adaptation to current business paradigms is geared towards his company remaining viable and delivering services to people and businesses.

He said at BotswanaPost, they believe in innovation as they recognised that it afforded them the opportunity to offer convenience to their customers. The technology they had, he said, allowed for ease of reconciliation because it allows them to directly integrate with their partners.

For her part, the director of tourism, Ms Kelebaone Maselesele said her department exists to formulate, monitor and implement tourism-related policies and strategies that ensure sustainable tourism development.

She said at present the department has seven offices around the country, being Gaborone, Selebi Phikwe, Francistown, Maun, Ghanzi, Tsabong and a satellite office in Serowe. Ms Maselesele said with the new arrangement their clients would no longer have to incur problems to pay their levies. ENDS
