BFA suspends Babitseng

The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has suspended the vice president (administration), Tariq Babitseng with immediate effect.
This is not the first time Babitseng find himself in a fracas with the football governing body. In 2012 he was suspended on allegations of embezzlement of funds, while he was BFA acting chief executive officer. However, Babitseng was later on cleared after appearing before disciplinary committee.
BFA has now issued a release saying the National Executive Committee (NEC) resolved to suspend Babitseng to facilitate an investigation and/or disciplinary action against him in respect of the handling of the contingency funds arising from the Guinea Bissau/Botswana game in Guinea Bissau.
The NEC further resolved to refer the investigation of this matter to the Botswana National Sports Council.
Meanwhile, FIFA development officer, Ashford Mamelodi said the reported suspension of the vice president (administration) on alleged failure to account for association funds was most unfortunate and a sad day for the game, given that he was the second most senior official after the BFA president.
“It is particular worrisome that it is not the first time this type of action has been taken against the same individual,” he said. When Babitseng confirmed that he had received a communication informing him of his immediate suspension from the association. ENDS
