No Ebola case in Palapye
12 Nov 2014
Palapye District Health Management Team (DHMT) refutes allegations of Ebola case in Palapye.
Responding to a questionnaire, public health specialist, Dr Gobusaone Morupisi said there had never been anyone suspected to have Ebola or Ebola death in Palapye. She however, encouraged community to continue reading Ebola materials to enhance knowledge and avoid travelling to affected countries and be alert to preventive measures.
She said the community has been taught about the signs and symptoms of the disease which include headache, lower abdominal pains, blood in sputum or stool, diarrhea, fever, bleeding from the nose or other parts of the body and difficulty in breathing.
She said by so doing they should seek medical care immediately if they develop these signs.
She said the community should do standard hygiene practice by washing hands with clean water and soap and avoid cultural practices such as funeral or burial rituals that require handling the body of someone who has died of Ebola.
In preparation for Ebola, DHMT has also established two isolation centres at Khurumela clinic and Martins drift. ENDS
