Agriculture department donates poultry house

The Ramatlabama Agriculture Wellness Committee has donated a backyard poultry house to a needy person.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony on November 7, Good Hope district commissioner Mr Innocent Maotwa urged the community to engage in activities that would improve the lives of underprivileged, adding that, helping one another did not need a lot of money.

He applauded the management of all Agricultural offices in Ramatlabama for providing roofing sheets for the project. For her part, The matron at Ramatlabama Ranch, Ms Judith Ntshole said government was dealing with many challenges and therefore could not afford to assist all those in need.

She said their branch was among the first to heed President Lt. Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama’s call to help families in need. Ms Ntshole explained that, they started to raise funds at the beginning of the year in collaboration with other departments to help Mr Mothusi Moeng who is blind. 

She said they managed to finish the construction of the poultry barn spending P3 985.90 including chicken feeds.  In addition to that the District Agricultural Coordinator in the Southern District Mr. Gwilizani Maposa said the department gave her nine hens and two cocks. 

He contributed P87.00 to top up for the chicken feeds.  Mr Gothusaone Mathiba from Lorato Persons with Disability Association pledged P100, whereas Mr Gobopaone Mosetlhi popped out P100. 

Mr Maposa said their contribution was in line with the Poverty eradication appeal by the president and national vision 2016 pillar: ‘A compassionate, just and caring nation’ ENDS
