Hook Up Dinner gives entrepreneurs platform to interact

06 Nov 2014

Co-founder of The Hook Up Dinner, Mr Phakiso Tsotetsi says the main aim of the movement is to give a platform to entrepreneurs so as to support, engage and contribute to each other’s growth.

Speaking at the get together with young entrepreneurs recently, Mr Tsotetsi said the idea of having The Hook Up Dinner was conceived two and a half years back in Johannesburg, South Africa and it is a growing entrepreneurial networking initiative that gives startups from across the country.

“The journey of being an entrepreneur can be very frustrating especially if you are travelling it alone with any support whatsoever,” he said. He indicated that along with his team, they recently launched the initiative in Francistown and the turn up was amazing. “Africa needs a platform for entrepreneurs to share ideas and basically help each other grow,” said Mr Tsotetsi.

He further said the concept, which takes on a dynamic yet relaxed and informal dinner, has since evolved into a market place where organisations find entrepreneurs with whom to partner in their economic empowerment programmes.

Young Batswana entrepreneurs had the chance to pitch their business ideas to the audience and were given 120minutes to state their case.

Mompati Majuta, Tshepiso Bosupegile, Bagwasi Gabasiane and Quinton Setlamelo all were given an opportunity to speak about their businesses and they in turn received feedback on how best to execute their ideas. ENDS
