be Mobile Premier League rookies, Sankoyo Bushbucks suffered yet another defeat on Tuesday afternoon (November 4), this time at the hands of BDF XI at Maun Sports Complex.
The army side secured a lead in the early part of the first half through striker Kumbulane Madziba. However, Sankoyo gained momentum in the last part of the first half but lacked chances to level matters.
Ngurungu continued to display a fighting spirit and attacked in the second half, especially the last part of the game, which gave their fans hope but did not manage to score. Matebele, as the army side is affectionately called also tried to score a second goal in the second half but to no avail.
Their coach, Elijah Chikwande in interview after the game said the game was balanced although they had not anticipated Sankoyo to attack them in the manner in which they did.
Chikwande said he was happy about the three points they gathered as it was what his side needed in these early stages of the league. For his part, Sankoyo coach Philani Mabena expressed that the game was good although his team lost. He noted that they struggled in the early minutes of the first half but gained momentum as the game went on.
“The boys were in control in the last part of the first half and second half of the game, but we were unlucky not to score,” he said. Ngurungu coach said he was proud of the team although they conceded a goal and lost the three points to Matebele.
He noted that they have learnt something and will take the lesson to their next game against fellow rookies Letlapeng at Maun Sports Complex over the weekend. ENDS
