04 Nov 2014

The Department of Mines under the Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources (MMEWR) has donated toiletries to Bana Ba Letsatsi Rehabilitation Centre in Maun.

Speaking during the donation, Mr Hossia Chimbombi, who is a principal engineer, said these would help those in need. He said they heard Bana Ba Letsatsi’s cry for help and they decided to help by coming together as employees and contributing.

Mr Chimbombi said they raised P7 200 to buy toiletries for the centre and they would continue to help the centre

For her part, Ms Margaret Morris, who is the centre’s coordinator, thanked the ministry for the effort they made to come all the way from Gaborone to come and give their centre. Ms Morris said their centre needs people who were compassionate, caring and have a loving heart to facilitate such contributions.

She said their centre cares for vulnerable children who need care, love and support, adding that everything the children eat comes from the centre. “With the help of people, NGOs and ministries like MMEWR, Bana ba Letsatsi will raise children from poor environments into successful lives in the future,” said Ms Morris.

She said their children perform excellently well academically, adding that most of their graduates are doing great in their respective high schools.

Furthermore, she said MMEWR will help their centre in terms of empowerment, creating a safe and compassionate environment with the support and access to education to reach their children’s potentials.

“We want to see all these children become confident and responsible members of the society one day and we can if we hold hands”, said Ms Morris. ENDS
