Big guns clash tonight
04 Nov 2014
Week after week the be Mobile Premier League continues to excite with twists and turns both at the top and bottom of the log.
After a weekend of non-stop action in the Mascom Top 8, the shoes are now tied for a faceoff in the league tonight (November 4).
The log leaders and defending champions, Township Rollers travel to Selebi Phikwe Stadium to play bottom of the league Ecco City Greens at 6pm.
Rollers get back on the road after visiting Motlakase Power Dynamos in Serowe this past Friday in the Mascom Top 8 where they easily won 3-0. The relegation haunted Ecco on the other side have had the worst start in their history of the premier league since gaining promotion in 2006. They have amassed only two points and lost seven matches out of nine played thus far.
However despite looking like a team heading for disaster, Ecco pulled up a good show against Magosi in their last game and they will be hoping to repeat the same performance and even better with Mapalastina.
Newcomers, Sankoyo Bush Bucks will host last season’s runners up BDF XI at Maun Sports Complex at 5 pm. For a team which is new to the top league environment, Sankoyo has performed well having won three, drawn two and lost four matches thus far.
Perhaps an eye catching match tonight at Molepolole sports Complex will be the clash between two teams battling their way out of the relegation zone. The teams, also newcomers into the league being Letlapeng and BR Highlanders are the only teams which have lost eight matches out of nine played .
The other match tonight will see Extension Gunners host Orapa United at the New Lobatse Stadium at 7 pm. Gunners did not start the league well but they have since upped their game by winning five out of the nine matches they played. After a draw against town rivals BMC in their last match, Mapantsola will aim towards reinforcing their already accumulated 17 points before the break next month.
Orapa United did not start well either but their eighth place in the log thus far is something they have to maintain if they aim to finish within the top 8 bracket come the end of the season. On the contrary, both teams are separated by three points but a win for either of them will ensure they remain in the top eight bracket. ENDS
