He might be young, but his talent speaks volumes. Born in Maitengwe  20 years ago, Gaolatlhe Tlhaloganyo, who goes by the stage name Brother Sthini, is into disco.

In an interview, Brother Sthini said he chose disco music because he had realised that it was the type of music Batswana admiredt and that one could earn a living out of it.

"The name of my album is Yekelan’ umntwana and the album has seven tracks," said Brother Sthini. This is his first album and he recorded it in 2009 and released it in October 2012.

He recorded six tracks at Mme Recording Studio in Francistown and the first song in the album called Christmas was mixed, mastered and arranged in Zimbabwe.

Brother Sthini said he gave many messages through his album, as it talked about the need for people to unite and live peacefully and all the struggles he had gone through as a child.

“I grew up without parents and my mother passed away when I was still very young while my father disappeared without taking care of me,” he said.

The young musician said he went to school up to Form Three because he had to take care of his younger sister. “I had to drop out of school because I was a student and a parent at the same time,” said Brother Sthini.

Furthermore, Brother Sthini said Christmas was a must listen to because it talked about the happiness that the day brought to many people.

“I have worked with artists like Mr Major Mjundo who was a friend to the late Donald Botshelo aka Don B,” said the disco artist.

He said Mjundo told him that his voice suited disco music and that was one of the reasons why he got into the music.

Brother Sthini has performed in festivals at Tagala Lodge in Tati Siding and Matsiloje as well as the local show Mokaragana and his album wasdoing well, especially in Francistown.

The part-time bus conductor and Deejay advised the youth that they should not give up on what they wanted. ENDS
