Kgaladua on come back trail

10 Mar 2013

Traditional musician, Dingalo ‘Kgaladua’ Mokotedi is working on his third album, Ke setse le bo rrangwane due to be released next month.

The album would put an end to the two years of absenteeism for the promising folklore musician since the release of Dikgomo di molelo, in which he lamented the loss of his father.

But it appears much has not changed as the Ramotswa born artist laments again, two years after the devastating experience.

For his fanatics, however, it is time to put on the dancing shoes and wait for the album to be availed.  In the new album, Kgaladua maintains his usual element of fusing Tswana poetry with instrumentals to add colour to his unique style.

“You will realise that youth are not into poetry, by fusing poems and contemporary instruments I want to entice them to listen to the message in my songs,” said Kgaladua in an interview. He said he took two years to release another album because he had to give Dikgomo di molelo a chance to perform in the market.

“It is like writing a book, you have to give your readers a chance to read a book before having another one in the market,” said the artists who entered the industry in 2007. He said he prefers to give his albums adequate time to perform in the market before releasing another and pointed out that it also takes time to produce quality music.

Unlike other artists, Kgaladua has no hard feelings towards radio stations for giving less air play to his music. “Produce something that is of quality and give it to radio stations, they will definitely play it, they cannot ignore quality,” he added. ENDS
