Preparations for the centenary celebrations for Molapowabojang village in the Southern District about 15 kilometers away from Lobatse and 25 kilometers from Kanye are going on as planned.
Chairperson of the logistics committee, Mr Lucky Moswetsi said in an interview that the celebrations will be held on November 29 and preparations were at an advanced stage.
Mr Moswetsi said the celebrations’ will be held under the theme “100 years and still going, honoring the efforts of our forefathers” which simply explain that the Bangwaketse group which left Kanye in 1914 worked hard to develop the village.
He said they will be having an umbrella committee meeting on Sunday to get reports from all the sub-committees which have been tasked with different engagements.
Mr Moswetsi appealed to the youth of Molapowabojang all over the country and any well-wishers to make their pledges through the committee’s account with Barclays called Molapowabojang Centenary account number 1083460.
Meanwhile the owner of Molapowabojang Recreational Park, common known as Rec Park in the entertainment circles, Mr Super Letshabo said they have organised a festival on November 1 to raise funds for the village’s centenary celebrations.
Mr Letshabo said renowned musicians in the likes of Patricia Majalisa, Thabile Mazolwana and Silindile amongst others will rock the park on Saturday and explained that 10 per cent of all the gate takings will be donated to the committee. ENDS
