A call for gymnastic rooms in workplaces

28 Oct 2014

An effective exercise initiative needs to be fun and keep one motivated, says the assistant district aids coordinator, Mr Ketshepile Nthomiwa.

Addressing the Francistown Tribal Administration employees in their wellness activity day held at Francistown College of Technical and Vocational Education (FCTVE), Mr Nthomiwa said their exercise programme could also be a good way to socialise.

Mr Nthomiwa said they might have a hard time starting an exercise routine, but once they have started they would begin to notice other benefits. He encouraged them to do regular exercises, adding that they do not need to join a gym to exercise.

Furthermore, he urged tribal administration employees to stay healthy so that they can produce good results at their work places. Mr Nthomiwa said social aspects of groups can be rewarding and motivating.  The assistant court of clerk, Ms Galempone Khutsafalo said the objectives of wellness activities were to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, and resources of the Tribal Administration employees.

Ms Khutsafalo said in all aspects of wellness promotion, every individual should act as role model for good nutrition and physical activity behaviours.

In his welcoming remarks, Court President of Gerald Estates Kgosi Paul Motshwane said the most important thing was to do exercises that one can maintain and enjoy.

Kgosi Motshwane appreciated the Tribal Wellness activity and urged them to have more exercises so that their bodies adapt to healthy lives. “Wellness is a continuous process, and to stay healthy needs one to exercise more regularly,” he said.

Furthermore, Kgosi Motshwane requested for the provision of gymnastic rooms in work places. He also encouraged workers to have fun and forget about their personal concerns.

The event theme was ‘My health, key to performance.’ ENDS
