BOCCIM visits OLDM

President of Botswana Confederation of Commerce Industry and Manpower (BOCCIM), Mr Lekwalo Mosienyane is expected to lead a business delegation to Orapa, Damtshaa and Letlhakane Mines (OLDM) from October 31 to November 2.
A press release from BOCCIM head of public affairs, marketing and communications, Ms Shiellah Moribame, stated that the visit would be a joint initiative of BOCCIM and OLDM who both believed that it will provide an avenue to more opportunities where local private sector could play a meaningful and effective role in the economy of Botswana through participation in the activities of the mines.
It stated that the aim of the visit was to familiarise the business executives with the operations of these mines. OLDM are some of the largest operations of Debswana contributing a significant share to the GDP of Botswana and employing a large number of Batswana.
It would help most business executives to appreciate the magnitude of Debswana’s operation in Orapa, said the release. The release also stated that the three day occasion is further expected to offer the mine a platform to present its strategic initiative dubbed “Orapa Today, Boteti Tomorrow”.
This project is yet to take shape and is aimed at transforming Boteti district into an economic hub, says the release.
It further notes that BOCCIM believes it will benefit its membership and also help them in identifying possible opportunities for business partnerships and linkages as they learn more about the plans to expand the mines’ operation in the area and other developments.
The release further states the visit will coincide with the general manager’s charity dinner which is intended to mobilise for support for his charitable donations to the community.
Some of the sectors which will be represented include the hospitality, banking, insurance, construction, professional services, mining, engineering, ICT and telecoms and transport among others.
A game of golf, a game drive and other sightseeing activities have been organised for the visit. Ends
