Sankoyo bring down Highlanders

19 Oct 2014

Sankoyo Bush Bucks' Jackson Lesole scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half to earn his team three points at Serowe Sports Complex Friday night (October 17).

Tlhagiso Mathews swung a telling cross into the BR Highlanders penalty area, which goalkeeper, Kabo Ntswaneng parried to the oncoming Lesole. Lesole controlled the ball with ease, composed himself before slotting it into the near post sending the few supporters into a frenzied celebration.

Although the visitors amassed maximum points, BR Highlanders staged a comeback that saw Salas Kemiso missing a close range chance with Sankoyo’s goal minder, Basimanebotlhe Moilwa off his post.

Kemiso had collected a rebound inside the box and chose to hit it casually with his left foot, only for Bush Bucks’ defender to clear to save the visitors what seemed certain blushes.  Other than that, BR Highlanders struggled to create goal scoring chances even though they displayed some touches of brilliance.

However, the visiting Bush Bucks seemed to have endeared themselves to the local supporters after weaving a series of breathtaking and exciting passes much to the approval of the vociferous few.

The north eesterners only needed a bullish striker with a killer instinct to conjure up some magic for Bush Bucks who had been longing for a victory.

Former Ecco City Greens and Orapa United midfielder, Mmoloki Kafuko, together with Morris Ruzivo, orchestrated the onslaught on the home side, while captain Kealeboga Molebatsi ensured that Highlanders attackers left the pitch a frustrated lot.

Bush Bucks have been in a rollercoaster drive in the be Mobile Premier League as they posted inconsistent results. In their latest flop they shared spoils at home with Notwane following yet another draw.

Before then, Bush Bucks had felt the wrath of the premier league competition when they were shot down by Lobatse based Extension Gunners by a 2-1 score line.

The north westerners also went down to Gaborone United during an away game after yet another whipping by visiting Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

However, Bush Bucks caused some waves in the football fraternity when they started their premier league crusade with two home wins against FC Satmos and Motlakase Power Dynamos.

As for BR Highlanders, the Mahalapye side has been consistently losing their games with a single win registered against Gunners. ENDS
