The Ministry of Lands and Housing is currently preparing a 24-year development plan (2012-2036) for Mathangwane, Borolong, Chadibe and Shashe-Mooke which will facilitate orderly land management and infrastructure development both in short and long term.

Responding to a parliamentary question on Thursday, Lands and Housing Minister, Mr Lebonaamang Mokalake told Parliament that the draft development plan was being finalised and consultations with the communities and district committees was expected to be conducted from March 2013 until June 2013 after which the plan is expected to be given to communities for use.

Minister Mokalake said the greater Francistown Planning Area Development Plan (1997-2001) which was approved in August 2011 included Matshelagabedi, Tati Siding,and Shashe bridge.

 He told the House that Mathangwane, Chadibe and Borolong were not part of the greater Francistown development planning area.

The Member of Parliament for Tonota North, Mr Fidelis Molao had asked him to state the reasons for including Mathangwane, Chadibe, and Borolong into the greater Francistown development planning area.

MP Molao had also asked the minister to state the period when the plan would be finalised and be presented to residents of these villages.

He also wanted the minister to state the possible spin offs that would or may accrue to these villages in the short to long term and the implications thereof for the residents. ENDS
