TRL ensures pupils do not walk barefoot

08 Mar 2013

Tati River Lodge (TRL) has donated 100 pairs of shoes to Tonota Junior Secondary School students as part of the Adopt-A-School initiative.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, the managing director of TRL, Ms Duduzile Khupe said the students left a lasting impression on her during a prize giving ceremony in 2003 such that she was compelled to adopt the school.

Also, Ms Khupe said she has seen a student with disability and others walking to school while driving along A1 road. “I was moved to find out that child was not receiving any form of assistance,” she said.

Since the child was not receiving any form of assistance, TRL decided to provide transport to pick and drop the students to school every day.

Mr Shasha Radinoga, TRL sales and marketing manager said the 100 pairs of shoes were worth P27 500 adding that they also wish to assist with  construction of the classroom that was gutted by fire.

The school head, Ms Julia Mangole said the school’s relationship with TRL comes a long way. “We appreciate and feel secure in the hands of TRL and believe that it is leading by example and living the 2016 vision pillar of a caring and compassionate nation.”

Kgosi Radipitse Ramosinyi of Tonota appreciated the efforts by TRL in making life easier for disadvantaged children. Kgosi Radipitse encouraged students to put every donation into good use.

One of the students, Ms Kgomotso Molalapata, who is an orphan and one of the beneficiaries, said she was happy and encouraged to put more effort in her studies. ENDS
