Fighters Giants brace for tough clash

Debswana First Division South league leaders, Mogoditshane Fighters are bracing for a hostile atmosphere in their top of the table clash with Killer Giants in Ramotswa on October 11.
The former premier league champions visit Giants, another ex-top flight campaigner in the lower division, brimming with confidence after hitting good form which propelled them to the summit of the log.
Fighters halted Black Forest’s unbeaten run with a commanding 2-0 victory on Sunday while Giants kept pace at the top by edging Sharps 1-0. Fighters lead the standings with 10 points after five matches, with Giants on fourth place with the same number of points but an inferior goal difference.
Both teams will be gunning for nothing less than maximum points as the fight for promotion to the be Mobile Premier League starts to take shape. Fighters’ assistant coach, Mpho Mabogo admitted in an interview recently that playing Giants in front of their passionate home support will be a daunting task for his charges.
However, he is upbeat that his team, which he said is still trying to find its rhythm, possessed enough quality to grab victory.
“To play an away game against Killer Giants is not simple. They are a good side as we have played them in friendlies. But we will try to beat them,” said Mabogo.
Mabogo will be counting on the impregnable Fighters defence of the experienced Kabo Molokwane, Tebogo Boitumelo, Karabo Moreri, Kabo Ngongorego and goalkeeper Onneetse Ditshito to continue keeping things tight at the back.
They have kept four clean sheets in their previous five matches and conceded just one goal.
In other matches, rookies Lesirane City will be searching for their first victory when they host Uniao Flamingo Santos at Lesirane Ground in Mogoditshane.
City has drawn four and lost one from their opening five matches and lie in the relegation zone.
Bottom team Ghanzi Terrors will welcome Sharps in Ghanzi with both teams looking to improve their position on the log.
On Sunday, Rolling Boys will welcome Black Peril at the SSG ground; Modipane United and Jwaneng Galaxy meet in Modipane, while Black Forest face Prisons XI in Mmankgodi. All matches will kick-off at 3.30pm. Ends
