Sankoyo woos potential sponsors
08 Oct 2014
Sankoyo Bush Bucks attempts to woo sponsors have not yet been fruitful.
In an interview, the team’s public relations’ officer, Thato Molosi confirmed that they were still struggling to secure sponsorship. He said talks with potential sponsors fell off as parties could not agree on some areas.
He said, “some people do not understand how a football team is run and what it means to sponsor a team,” hence no agreement was reached. Molosi said many companies had shown interests in sponsoring the team but the negotiations failed because they wanted to benefit more than they had offered.
However, he said negotiations were on-going with a certain company. He was optimistic that the talks would bring out positive results to the Ngurungu boys who had been relying on financial assistance from the Sankoyo Tshwaragano Management Trust, the executive committee, grant from the pemier league and some micro funders.
Molosi said the team had no physical trainer as the one who was assisting them had gone back to Cuba to pursue her studies. He said currently coaches were assisting players on that area.
Regarding the team’s performance, Molosi said a lot still had to be done in terms of mental strength among players.
He noted that the players had shown commitment and zeal to take the team to a higher level but pointed out that their mental strength was not in a good level hence they lost most of their games at the last minutes in the previous matches.
“We have quality of players who are young, energetic and well-disciplined but we should prepare them that they play to survive the relegation not to take the league”, he added.
Molosi said despite their efforts to recruit quality players who were in the premier league before, the young players were still finding it hard to adapt to football tactics. He said in the recent encounters, the boys played exceptionally well as they blocked big giants like Township Rollers, from scoring more goals.
“I am impressed with their performance in the previous match because they are newly promoted and they are able to dominate and score against big giants,” he said. Ends
