Coach of First Division-North side, Great North Tigers (GNT) of Francistown is a worried man because of his team’s poor performance.

The team has failed to register a single win since the start of the season. Edward Leposo watched helplessly at his team’s one-all draw against new comers Kazungula Young Fighters in Francistown on October 4. 

To show his displeasure, Leposo exploded and questioned his players’ commitment to the game as well as the team, more so that they were failing to take advantage of their home ground advantage.

Once a premier league outfit, which was relegated almost three seasons ago, GNT’s attempts to gain promotion to the elite league had for the past seasons not materialised due to their failure to secure maximum points, which could have aided their efforts to reclaim their slot in the elite league. 

At the weekend encounter, they came from behind to settle for a draw against Kazungula, hence taking their log status to four draws and one loss. 

Zwangu Majeremane of GNT rescued his team in the dying minutes of the first half as he pulled one back after their attempts to level matters were foiled off by the solid Kazungula defence. 

Kazungula had taken the lead from the onset in the first five minutes of the game, making their hosts to run after them as they remained concrete at the back to deny GNT an equalising opportunity.  Returning for the second half, GNT was the first to be awarded a penalty, which they failed to convert. 

A similar opportunity of a penalty was also awarded to Kazungula and they too failed to take the lead.  Kazungula coach, Kgotlayame Disele remakned confident that in the second round they will be very competitive and not giving any team respect. 

He added that their performance had not been found wanting as they have managed to register two wins, two draws and a loss in the five games they have played, and this he said was a good start for them as a team travelling long distances to play games. ENDS
