BDF band fails revellers

06 Mar 2013

The Botswana Defence Force (BDF) band failed to live up to the good image they have built over the years as they staged an evidently poor performance at the Serowe College over the weekend.

The band, which is well known for its well-polished classical performances, could not even get revelers off their seats, let alone provoke cheers. The sound system was poor and it was exacerbated by the fact that it was in a hall with no acoustics; as such there was too much echo.

It was very clear that the band did not prepare well and the situation was not helped by the fact that on the day, there were no familiar faces from the band members. They did not perform the crowd’s favorite genres such as Pantsula jive, Kwasa dance or traditional dance.

It was not surprising to see revelers who stayed rooted to their seats for the better part of the show, leaving way before the show ended perhaps hoping to find better entertainment elsewhere.

The show was part of the fund raising campaigns the college has embarked on as they prepare for their 50th anniversary celebrations and official opening of the new facilities on April 19.

The college got a multi-million phase lift when they got a library, science and a math lab, music and art laboratories amongst others. ENDS
