Churches celebrate boipuso

President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, on September 28, joined churches that converged at Boipuso Hall, in Gaborone, for the Independence Day Celebrations church service.

The purpose of the church service that was organised by the Ministers Fraternal in Gaborone in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture was to pray for the country’s peace and stability, the upcoming national elections, rain and to pray against social ills. 

When delivering the intercessory prayers, Ministers Fraternal in Gaborone prayed to God to have mercy upon the nation of Botswana.

In their intercessory prayers, five priests from different churces asked God to bring to an end all the social ills that have befallen the country, to restore peace and stability within families, organisations and political parties and for the country to experience free and fair elections.  They also prayed for rain.

Present at the church service were the Vice President, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe, the Minister of Defence Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse, Minister of Health, Dr John Seakgosing,  acting Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Vincent Seretse and Attorney General, Dr Athalia Molokomme.

Permanent secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ms Banny Molosiwa, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, Ms Ruth Maphorisa, deputy permanent secretary to the President, Ms Botshelo Mathuba, Former Commander of Botswana Defence Force, Lt Gen. Tebogo Masire, Umbrella for Democratic Change leader, Mr Duma Boko and Gaborone District Commissioner, Ms Grace Seitshiro also attended the service. ENDS
