Sankoyo bush bucks hard nut to crack

Sankoyo Bush Bucks had proved to be a hard nut to crack when they held title holder and league defender Township Rollers to a one all draw in a beMobile league game played in Molepolole on Tuesday night (September 23).
Though Rollers started well scoring under first minute through Motsholetsi Sikele, they soon lost steam as Sankoyo packed the middlefield to frustrate their opponent to connect to strikers forcing Rollers to play pimpong to try to access their front to no avail.
Rollers strikers too many touches inside goal area proved to be wasteful and were soon punished after Morris Ruzivo equalised in the 20th minute after Rollers defence were caught off-guard due to poor man marking.
After their equaliser Sankoyo who seemed to have absorbed all pressure now dictated the pace and tempo of the game and this frustrated Rollers who had underestimated their opponent following the latter’s two loses.
After the game, Rollers coach Madinda Ndlovu said the team created a lot of chances which they wasted, but was glad the team managed to retain unbeaten record even though three points was what they fought for.
“Like I always say there are no small teams in the league and in game of football you should expect everything.
Today it was not our day, we created a lot of scoring chances, but could not utilise them.
I am happy we managed to maintain our unbeaten record, though what we wanted was three points,” he said.
Sankoyo coach, Kabelo Kuti whose team has seen two successive losses to Gaborone United and Extension Gunners was delighted his charges were able to salvage a point away from home more particularly to a top class team and league defender Rollers.
“We knew our opponent was too strong upfront and we had to crowd the middle to force them play long balls to their strikers, and there our defence were able to match them in tussling for high balls and this frustrated their plans,” he said.
He said he was confident of the team because they managed to score in almost all their games only to lose the game in the last minutes, but was optimistic that with time they will be able to settle down and compete with the rest of the teams.
“Though we lack a target man upfront, we manage to score in almost our games.
The boys still lack confidence to believe in themselves mainly because we are new from first division and we are still learning. ENDS
