Rollers Notwane come face to face
18 Sep 2014
The be Mobile Premier League continues this engaging weekend with breathtaking encounters across the country.
As the season reaches its pace setting stage, only three teams have not lost any game thus far and the race is getting even more interesting especially at the top.
This season, the defending champions Township Rollers’ tone is different. The acquisition of a promising youngster Segolame Boy from the relegated Miscellaneous has taken their squad onto a different world. They have a lot of confidence after a 1-0 win against rivals and log leaders Mochudi Centre Chiefs last Saturday.
On September 19, they will take on city rivals, Notwane at the National Stadium at 7pm. A win for Mapalastina will see them temporarily lead the log before Magosi’s game the next day.
Notwane started convincingly by beating Gaborone United but things have since gone downhill and they lost all the four games afterwards. Another clash also on Friday night at 7pm will see third placed BMC continue their race at the top by taking on Motlakase Power Dynamos at Molepolole sports complex.
Motlakase started well for a team that recently regained promotion and they lost two and won three games. BMC will also be aiming to top the log temporarily in case Rollers drop points against Notwane. Motlakase however will not be shaken easily after beating Phikwe giants Nico United last weekend.
On Saturday log leaders Centre Chiefs who remain virtually separable from the rest will lock horns with newcomers BR Highlanders at Molepolole Sports complex at 3.30pm.
While the return of stalwart Mara Moloi has not produced any good, the presence of Ayanda Molefhe and Bonolo Fraizer adds an unashamedly sentimental sheen.
Highlanders nonetheless seem to have lost confidence after falling to the ruthless claws of Rollers two weeks back and they will be back to another lion’s den.
Still on Saturday, September 20 at the New Lobatse stadium, Extension Gunners will be at home and this time they will host premier league rookies Sankoyo Bush Bucks.
Gunners are boozing with morale after beating Notwane 1-0 last weekend while Sankoyo aims to end their three games losing streak.
Twelveth placed BDF XI host eighth placed Orapa United at SSKB stadium kickoff 3.30pm. For a team that were runners up last season, BDF XI has been disappointing this season and their 4-0 defeat at the hands of BMC last weekend shows the need for a new-look and resurgence altogether. Orapa United on the other side will aim to capitalise on Matebele’s early slip up.
In Francistown stadium, the only team that has not won a single game this season ECCO City Greens and are currently at the bottom of the log will host FC Satmos at 3.30pm. It is thus far the worst start in the premier league for the North giants and FC Satmos will look to capitalise on their fall.
Gaborone United will travel to Phikwe Stadium to play Nico United at 3.30pm. GU who lost their first match of the season have since made a comeback by registering three wins and one draw.
Rahman Gumbo’s men will tackle Nico United who have not started that bad either.
On Sunday there will be only one match at Molepolole sports complex where Police XI will take on Letlapeng at 3.30pm. Police which is currently on fire and optimistic after beating BR Highlanders 2-1 last weekend will tackle yet another newcomer into the elite league.
Goals will be scored, players will shine while others flop, coaches’ tactics will work and some will fail, teams will drop points while others capitalise but at the end of week seven nothing will ever be the same in this season’s beMOBILE premier league. ENDS
