Uganda on Wednesday, September 17 handed Botswana an upset as they walloped the hosts 47-32 at the ongoing 4th Africa Netball World Qualifiers.

Uganda ambushed Botswana from the start with the former dominating in possession.

Botswana wasted balls in the middle court at the hands of the versatile and aggressive opponents who flaunted their elasticity throughout the game.

Uganda goal shooter, Proscovia Peace had a field day at the posts as she outclassed defenders, Francinah Eyman and Ntebogang Motlakaloso who on several occasions fouled her and handed her free shots.

The visitors were quick to dash at the ball creating chances and distributing them well around the court which resulted in Botswana girls chasing after them throughout the game.

Uganda snatched the opening quarter with 12- 6, second quarter with 21-35 which was too much for Botswana coaches as they were prompted to make substitution.

Goal attacker, Portia Rasekhumba and goal defender, Eyman went out for Hildah Binang and Florah Keeditse which shook up the game a bit.

Binang hit target as she looped in goals but the margin was too steep, Keeditse also blocked the ferocious Ugandan goal attacker, Had Nakabuye who did her home work in distributing balls to the tall and accurate shooter Peace.

Uganda girls were feisty and quick at the ball even Binang’s scoring prowess could not redeem team Botswana’s sinking ship.<br />It was just one heartbreak for Batswana as the game unpacked as Uganda was a better team on the day.

Botswana is now crossing fingers hoping to beat Zambia on Thursday (September 18) who also sit in second spot after being walloped by marauding Uganda.

The local girls will complete their fixtures on Friday as they take on Swaziland, Batswana can only hope that the girls win the two remaining games in order to finish in position two.
