Funds shortage delay court opening
06 Mar 2013
Parliament has been informed of serious challenges to the economic viability of ceremonies such as the officially opening of the Lobatse Magistrate Court.
The Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Dikgakgamatso Seretse said the court was supposed to be officially opened in 2009/10 but could not due to economic down turn.
Mr Seretse however noted that the situation still remained the same while more than two magistrate courts remained functional but were not officially opened.
The courts included Palapye, Selebi Phikwe and Village. Mr Seretse said they had decided that such festivities should be left to the communities.
Lobatse MP, Mr Nehemiah Modubule had wanted to know when the Lobatse Magistrate Court was going to be officially opened since it had been in use for some time. ENDS
