Premier league race resumes
11 Sep 2014
The premier league title race resumes this weekend, undoubtedly with fresh commitment after the league’s long time sponsor be Mobile renewed their sponsorship for three more years.
After four games, and now going into the fifth games, the 2014-15 be Mobile Premier League campaign could prove to be the most intriguing after the FIFA break gave teams room to rejuvenate.
With the game of the weekend arguably being the one between bitter rivals Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers at the National Stadium on Saturday night at 8pm, fans must surely be prepared for an engaging encounter.
The two teams, which are arguably the real title contenders this season, are sitting on number one and two spots of the league log respectively. Their last pre-season Kabelano Charity Cup game ended in a penalty shootout, and one can only be curious to see how they will fare against each other this time around.
Fresh from dismantling BR Highlanders in their last game, and a pre-season of upgrading its squad, Rollers should be much closer to defending the title they won last year.
Though a win for Township Rollers will not put them at the top of the log, it will close the gap to a one point margin, while Magosi on one hand are on fire and will aim to continue their winning streak and increase their lead at the top.
On Friday evening (September 12), newcomers BR Highlanders will host Police XI at Serowe Sports Complex at 7pm hrs.
After succumbing to a humbling 7-0 defeat at the hands of defending champions Township Rollers, Highlanders will try by all means to put the humiliation behind them.
Police on the other side have not lost any game thus far and they will be looking forward to continuing where they left off. On Saturday, the men from the north, Ecco City Greens will be playing the 10th placed Orapa United at home.
One other game played the same day at 330pm will be between Extension Gunners and Notwane at the New Lobatse Stadium. Both Mapantsula and Sechaba have not been doing well and a lot will be at stake.
Still on Saturday, another encounter will be between Nico United and Motlakase Power Dynamos at Selebi Phikwe stadium in the afternoon. The newcomers to the elite league, Letlapeng will play Football Club Satmos the same afternoon at Molepolole Sports Complex.
The Ramotswa side started the league with a win but has since lost two games but with a game in hand. On Sunday, September 14, there will be two matches, the first one being a clash between Gaborone United and Sankoyo Bush Bucks at Molepolole Stadium at 3:30pm.
For a newcomer in the tough premier league, Sankoyo started well with two wins but has since lost the last two matches; therefore a win against Moyagoleele will boost their confidence. The other match will see BDF XI face BMC at SSKB Stadium in the afternoon.
BMC have not lost a game thus far and they are currently sitting on the third spot and they will be a force to reckon with.
With materials to get back into title contention, a win for BDF XI will be one step forward to bring them closer to winning the title which slipped them last season. ENDS
