Government and Botswana Football Association (BFA) have resolved in principle that the football portion of the constituency sports tournaments will continue to be administered by government with technical management by the BFA.

A press release from the Ministry of Youth Sport and Culture stated that the resolution was taken in a meeting with President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama requested by the BFA president, Mr Tebogo Sebego and attended by the acting Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture, Vincent Seretse, his permanent secretary and the FIFA development officer, Ashford Mamelodi.

The release said all three parties recognised that the tournaments played an important role towards the promotion of football in the country.

According to the release, the BFA would communicate this agreed joint role to FIFA and the expectation was that it will resolve any misunderstandings that might have occurred on the matter in the past.  ENDS
