Khama rides for charity

07 Sep 2014

President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama, on September 7,  joined Botswana Bikers Society (BBS) as they rode for charity.

The motorcycle ride started next to Attorney General Chambers in Gaborone and proceeded to Boatle, Mmankgodi, Gabane and returned to the city in a little over an hour.

President Khama is the patron of the society which has numerous charity projects in the country and chairperson of the BBS, Bertus De Klerk said the president has been participating in the mass rides for five years.  De Klerk said riders from South Africa joined them and said he was happy for the support they received from the neighbouring country.

This year’s participation, although it attracted a huge number of riders, was affected by Rhino Rally in South Africa as the dates clashed.

De Klerk said this year, they had a two day event, as on Saturday they hosted children from communities including those from Mochudi at Airport Junction.

He said through the event, they managed to hand out toys to under privileged children with a number of their sponsors such as Airport Junction and Citizen Design. Ends
