04 Sep 2014

High octane boxing returns to action on Saturday, September 6, when top of the drawer bouts will be lined up in the finals of the Keone Mooka Mageu National boxing championships.

Botho University multi-purpose hall will play host to a mouthwatering nine bout grand finale in what many boxing pundits have referred to as rematch.

In a match that has all the ingredients of a thriller, 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth quarterfinalist ,Mmusi Tswiige has set a date with the rejuvenated former light welter weight champion Lentswe Zwinila.

The meeting between the two will undoubtedly be the toast of the afternoon as Zwinila will be hoping to stage a sweet revenge against the 23 years old Prisons boxing club boxer as he succumbed to his body shots in last year’s edition of the championships.

However, Tswiige narrowly lost to Keoagile Rantutu in the final bout. Against Tswiige Zwinila will be hoping to keep the heavily built boxer against the ropes up to a bitter end.

In another epic thriller Ookeditswe Bobeilwe has all the pressure in the world on his shoulders when he entertains the left handed wonder kid Kagiso Bagwasi.

Bagwasi who is well known in the ring for his crushing uppercuts and menacing left hooks has just stepped up the ladder on his amateur boxing ranks by joining the light welter after an impressive record in the light division where his young brother Kabelo now reigns supreme.

The two Bagwasi brothers have all the talent and seemingly showing great potential of an impressive career. However it will take the energy and passion of the likes of Bobeilwe to claim victory against the best of the best at this stage.

On paper Bobeilwe comes as an underdog having lost an earlier encounter against the elder Bagwasi in an interclub meeting. Kabelo faces Motlhamme Hendrick of Prisons after an entertaining semifinal victory against Tirafalo Seoko
In other interesting bouts lined up for the afternoon 54kg ace Oteng Oteng will square up against Onkarabile Mothibedi from SSKB.

The latter has in the past succumbed to Oteng’s sneaky punches but he has all the advantage now to prove his mettle.

In the flyweight division Thabiso Mpolokeng will face Molwantwa of BMC, Tefo Rrammupudu takes on Marshall Mokgwaela while Kefentse Molalapata comes face to face with Opelo Modungwa. ENDS
