Semitwe cleanest village

Semitwe in the Tutume sub-district has emerged as the cleanest small village in the whole Central District and won a floating trophy, P1 000 and a certificate.
Tutume Sub-district assistant council secretary, Ms Kene Mololwane informed councillors during the Tutume sub-council session that the village was announced the winner at an award ceremony in Palapye recently.
Ms Mololwane said the clean-up campaign competition was categorised into three stages of small, medium and big villages and Semitwe emerged the winner with 83 per cent followed by Lentswe-le-Moriti with 70 per cent.
She also said the village had won the campaign for three consecutive years since 2012. She also said Nshakashogwe village came second with 70 per cent trailing behind was Paje which got 74 per cent in category of big villages and won P1500 and a certificate.
In addition, Ms Mololwane said some officers from the district won themselves awards. She raised a concern that the sub-district performed below par as it attained position five out of seven districts.
For his part, Tutume sub-district council chairperson, Mr Philip Makale applauded the district for its performance and encouraged officers to work hard to improve their performance.
He also encouraged all villagers to maintain a clean environment, so that they could also get first prize in future. Ends
