03 Sep 2014

The Bible Society of Botswana (BSB) marked end of the Bible month by a ceremony at the Trinity Congregational church in Gaborone on August 29.

The congregation commemorated the word of God and committed themselves to owing it, to reading it and to live in accordance with its teachings.

The Bible Society is a non-denominational and non-profit making Christian organisation that exists to serve all churches and the nation with the Holy Scriptures and scripture related materials.

It exists to expand the Kingdom of God with the help of the Holy Spirit through translation and dissemination of the word of God to the people.

The chairman of the Bible Month Committee, Pastor Ernest Samuel said that they are celebrating what the Bible has done for them and encouraged people to read the holy scripture.

He said that they engaged in various activities throughout the month including giving Bibles to various institutions like Anne Stine Centre and the Moshupa boys’ prison among others.
“This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success”, said Pastor Samuel quoting from the Bible.

Dr Kenaope Kenaope, Botswana Union Conference President of the Seventh Day Adventist Church thanked the BSB team for their commitment, especially the issuing out of the Bible. He said that the Bible is a covenant between people and God and it restores hope, therefore, people should live by it, “seek first God’s kingdom and his righteousness and all things will be granted” he added.

While giving his devotion, Pastor David Seithamo of Apostle Faith Mission said that the Bible is a valuable possession that can bring changes into one’s life and it can save one’s soul because it is inspired by the Holy Spirit.

He said that the word of God is powerful and has no boundaries. Pastor Seithamo also said that the word of God is the seed of the Kingdom of God. “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…” he added.

The Bible Month Committee and board representatives were recognized and given certificates of appreciation and bibles for the work they have done and the Trinity congregation church choir, Gaborone central youth choir male choral, independent assemblies of God praise team and St Leikadile Apostolic church brass band led the church in worship and praise throughout the ceremony.
