The Ministry of Transport and Communications has never conducted a study to determine the sustainability of the gravel used on the Matsitama/Orapa junction road.

Answering a question in Parliament, Minister Nonofo Molefhi said the road was constructed by the Ministry of Local Government and handed over to the Ministry of Transport and Communications effective April 1, 2011 as per Presidential Directive.

Mr Molefhi however said his ministry would undertake appropriate assessment of the condition of the road and introduce initiatives to improve the condition of the road as would be appropriate.

Tonota North MP, Mr Fidelis Molao had asked whether the Ministry of Transport and Communications has ever conducted any study to determine the sustainability of the gravel used on the Matsitama/Orapa junction road, if not, when would the minister do that to address the concerns on the motorists who used the road regularly and experience tyre punctures due to the type of material used on the road.
