Residents unhappy with Mogoditshane Sub-land Board

01 Sep 2014

Residents of Tsolamosese have expressed dissatisfaction with service delivery at Mogoditshane Sub-land Board, chief among their complaints being maladministration in land allocation and delay of compensations.

These surfaced during a kgotla meeting addressed by MP for Mogoditshane, Mr Patrick Masimolole recently.

One Mr Modirwagale Maoto complained of high crime rate in Tsolamosese and blamed the police for taking too long to attend to reported cases of crime.

VDC chairperson Ms Leungonyana Tsuogo complained of congestion at Lesirane clinic saying it is under staffed with only one doctor who only comes once a week.

Giving an update of the performance of Lesirane Primary School, the school head Ms Batha Dintwe told the MP that following recommendations that were made to improve performance, a discipline and performance upgrade committee was formed.

Ms Dintwe said the committee visited students at homes and established that children who underperformed at school were those that lacked parental care and love, those that were not fed and those that experienced emotional abuse.

She went on to explain that after these findings, they addressed parents one on one and the situation improved drastically. She therefore thanked parents of Tsolamosese for cooperating with the school and said that she was optimistic for better results this year.

Responding to their concerns a representative from Mogoditshane sub-landboard Ms Florence Mankutlwatsi admitted that they took long to assist residents with allocations because there was shortage of equipment and staff due to the ongoing LAPCAS project that has engaged quite a number of their staff.

Another challenge they are facing, she said, was the fact that Tsolamosese was redesigned in 2009 and they were supposed to have allocated plots in 2010.

She said they are currently battling with compensating people and getting those who have old certificates to realign their plots within the new layout.

Another problem they encountered, Ms Mankutlwatsi said, was that compensations were taking long because they are still sourcing funds from the ministry.

Furthermore she encouraged residents to always report cases of corruption as they too were concerned about growing cases of corruption in the landboards.

For his part, MP Masimolole said Mogoditshane residents always complain about land but after they are allocated land they sell it.

He urged them to stop selling land. He also told residents to always cooperate with civil servants and display an element of respect at all times and get excellent service in return. ENDS
