Botswana Consumer Fair has continued to show signs of growth, according to the Fairground Holdings chief executive officer, Mr Michael Montshiwa. in a press brief on Tuesday, August 26 at Fair grounds.
He said, during a briefing on August 26, that about 25 foreign exhibitors had graced the event and they were happy to announce that the fair’s ninth edition had grown by four per cent in terms of the number of exhibitors and stall sales compared to the year 2013.
Mr Montshiwa said that they managed to attract 470 exhibitors, over 500 stalls had been booked and they also welcomed 25 local manufacturers to this year’s fair in their efforts to further improve and grow.
He said the objective of the event was not only to grow the fair, but also primarily to create a platform for the growth of business and enterprises in the country mainly the SMME sector. He said they were trying to develop this because a vibrant private sector in any country brings benefits to the economy.
“SMME’s have been praised for the role they play in many economies the world over, so as Fairground Holdings, we provide a platform for them and service providers to participate in order to grow their business and build clientele”, he said.
In an endeavour to diversify their product portfolio, they had introduced the 4x4 driver’s training and testing event, which was a spectacle for visitors to the fair.
Fairground Holdings and Inner Aura represented by former Miss Botswana, Karabo Sampson have also partnered to introduce Fashion X, which is a concept that will add a touch of lifestyle, fashion, color and glamour to the Botswana Consumer Fair programme.
“The theme for the fashion show will be Symphony of Color, but designers are given the opportunity to express themselves and showcase some of their best collections and also showcase a collection that defines them as designers without being restricted to the theme”, Ms Karabo Sampson added.
Fairgrounds Holdings in association with Holy Cross Hospice Day Care Center, which is an NGO that supports children of terminally ill parents will be hosting children aged between 4-8 years during the fair as one of the many ways of giving back to the society. ENDS
