Rollers put seven past Highlanders

Township Rollers registered their second victory of the new season by crushing BR Highlanders 7-0 at Selebi-Phikwe stadium on Friday night, August 29.
The defending champions scored five goals in the first half and finished off the job in the second stanza to show their intensions to defend the title.
Kobamelo Kebaikanye gave Mapalastina a perfect start with two goals within the first 20 minutes before left back Otlantshekela Mooketsi extended the lead when his brilliant corner kick beat BR Highlanders defenders and goalkeeper Kago Mmopi.
Rollers maintained their high tempo and Jerome Louis added the fourth goal after snatching the ball from a Highlanders defender and shot the ball straight at the goal. Less than two minutes later with Highlanders defence still looking confused, Louis completed his brace to make the score 5-0.
Rollers continued to torment their opponents in the second half and Motsholetsi Sikele increased the lead to 6-0, before Manqoba Ngwenya headed in the final goal.
Highlanders assistant coach, Tebogo Mokute said his boys made a lot of mistakes and let Rollers to score soft goals. He indicated that the match was a wake up call to his side to toughen up and pull up their socks.
He said that his team will rectify their mistakes and regroup to compete better in the next league games. Rollers coach Madinda Ndlovu said the win was just like any win and the main thing was that his team collected three points.
He said he took the game as it came and his boys utilised the opportunities availed to make goals.
He said his team prepared well for every game and it was not the first time for Rollers to score many goals. “My boys came to the party and utilised the chances they were given to score goals,” he said adding that his team still had other games to prepare for in the league.
In other games Mochudi Centre chiefs beat Sankoyo Bushbucks by a solitary goal while Ecco City Greens fought from two goals down to force a 2-2 draw with Gaborone United in Molepolole. FC Satmos drew 1-1 with BMC, while Police XI were held to a 2-2 draw by Nico United. ENDS
