27 Aug 2014

Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has recognised and enforced commitment, dedication of its employees who put the ministry in the map in pursuit of excellence.

Speaking at the appreciation ceremony on August 26, Minister Peter Siele said the employees had made the ministry proud and that they deserve accolades. “In this regard, I wish to hasten to recognise the critical role that you play and assure you that you are individually and collectively valued for your contributions and the difference that you make,” he said.

As the people’s ministry, Mr Siele said they had contributed immensely and significantly to the unparalleled success that the country has achieved in terms of socio-economic development that has led to tangible improvements in people’s lives.

“Yes we know that success does not come easy, nor is it superhighway, it is riddled with challenges of discouragement and disappointment,” he said. To those who did not make it, the minister encouraged them to celebrate with those who made it. “I wish to encourage you to soldier on, the journey starts now and indeed you can make it if you put your heart to it,” he said.

Furthermore, Mr Siele encouraged those in leadership to continue to strive for fairness in ensuring that indeed the right and deserving officers are motivated by doing the needful. Meanwhile, Lobatse Town Council clerk, Ms Gabatlotlane Sekwakwa encouraged her colleagues to develop the spirit of thanking.

She said every employee was needed for President Lt Gen. Seretse Khama Ian Khama to do his work easily. “We need you all, no matter what your work is, whether you are a driver, messenger or what, you are all important,” she said. ends
