Modipane trust to create employment

The residents of Modipane will soon benefit from the establishment of a community development trust geared at improving their lives.
Even though Modipane Development Trust is yet to kick start their projects, Kgosi Fanuel Mokalake believed that it was a good initiative as it would address unemployment and many other economic issues in the village.
Speaking in an interview, Kgosi Mokalake said they had decided to come together as a community and form a development trust, which started in 2010. He said some of their ideals were to tackle local issues and bring change that would be carried out through projects on the pipeline, but also created community enterprises.
He further said their main focus would be on those who were not working so that their lives could be improved. Kgosi Mokalake, who is spearheading the development trust with the trust committee, added that their intention was to help government fight impoverishment and uplift the lives of people.
He said together with his morafe, they believe that immediately the trust starts to function, they would be able to see change in their village.
Kgosi Mokalake said their greatest challenge they were facing now is lack of land, but he believes that land board would give them a plot to commence their projects.
While they were still awaiting the plot from government, he called on all residents to apply for membership for the trust stressing that all were welcome to register.
Further, he said since this was still something new to residents, many were dragging their feet as they want to understand what the development trust was all about.
Kgosi Mokalake implored residents to be participatory in the trust because it shall have long term benefits in their lives.
He added that their engagement into sustainable projects would accord them a new lease of life, hence community enterprises would thrive in the village which means improved life conditions.
He admitted that forming something new does not come easy, as people may be resistant but in the long run some would come in to lend a helping hand.
Kgosi Mokalake said they had already met some people who would like to finance their projects but they we delayed by lack of a plot to start.
Nevertheless, he believed that soon they would be given land to start their projects. Ends
