Employees should close the gaps

18 Aug 2014

Karowe Mine managing director, Mr Ribson Gabonowe has appealed to employees of Central District Council (CDC) to close the gaps between the results the customers are currently achieving and the desired results the customers demand from them.

Speaking at the first annual performance awards ceremony for CDC in Palapye on August 15, Mr Gabonowe said it was critical that the services they provided met the customer’s expectations.

He called on the employees to interact with the customers in defining and prioritizing the clients desired results. “Remember that we are our customers’ employees and we must understand the results they want and then work to deliver those results”, he said.

Mr Gabonowe said it is fitting to recognize the efforts of the employees and encourage them to raise their performance even higher and influence others to do likewise.

He said the awards that the employees received show management’s appreciation and recognition of their achievements. The categories of the awards covered sub-councils, departments, best employees and employees who have demonstrated exemplary conduct.

The Central District Council secretary Mr Gaolathe Dipholo said that there is a need to improve productivity and efficiency in service delivery especially in the context of an increasingly aware and techno-savvy clientele which will not forgive slothfulness and excuses.

Mr Dipholo said that traditional expressions of appreciation often led to a lackadaisical attitude towards work.

He said by recognizing an officer’s grand performance his or her peers are motivated to strive to do better. He encouraged those who received the awards to keep the good work.

The award for the employee of the year in the entire central district went to Ms Mosetsana Dingalo while the best performing council award went to Bobirwa Sub-District council. ENDS
