Dolphins eye top three finish

Dolphins head coach, Shalosh Matsetse is plotting a top three finish in the Women’s Basketball League this season.
After his team thrashed hapless Botho University Ravens 57-14 in its opening league match on August 16, Matsetse declared that they would fight to have a successful campaign.
“This year we want to be in the top three. If we can be number two or number one, it would be a bonus for us. But we want to fight to be among the top three,” said the coach.
The youthful Gaborone based club, which comprises many tertiary education students, finished on position four of the six-team league last year.
Katlego Seitshiro grabbed 18 points to lead Dolphins to simple victory at the University of Botswana Basketball Courts on Saturday. Her combination with Khumo Leburu, who ended the match with 16 points, was too much for the Ravens defence which offered little resistance.
Dolphins led 18-7 at halftime, but were prevented from plundering more points by inaccurate shooting against an opposition which appeared in disarray.
They upped their scoring game in the third quarter with Leburu dribbling past a number of Ravens players to score a fantastic jump shot.
After both Leburu and Seitshiro combined for six points in quick succession, Motshidisi Ramoshebi slotted in the first three-pointer of the match to give Dolphins a 31-10 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Dolphins then grabbed 26 more points in the fourth quarter to seal a comfortable victory as Ravens showed more poor marking.
Despite the win, Matsetse felt that his team failed to ruthlessly exploit their opponents’ weaknesses.
“I am a little disappointed because we failed to take advantage of their mistakes. We had expected the margin to be bigger than this.
The first three quarters we were playing good defence but our finishing was not good,” Matsetse said. Ends
