Chiefs eye league title

15 Aug 2014

Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ public relations officer Clifford Mogomotsi says his team’s transfer window business is over and they are now in a position to pursue league glory.

Magosi host BDF XI in an evening kickoff on Saturday, August 16 at Molepolole Sports Complex in their second match of the campaign after last week’s 2-0 opening day success over Extension Gunners.

Mike Sithole’s team has welcomed on board eleven players as they seek to recapture the league title after last season’s disappointing fourth place finish.

Besides ECCO City Greens stars Keabetswe Jenamiso and Tendai Nyumasi, Kago Nfila from BDF XI, and Senatla Molefhe from relegated Uniao Flamingo Santos, the Kgatleng giants have brought in defender Willbord Mutare from Tafue Celtic in Zambia and midfielder Ocean Mpofu from Zimbabwe.

Mogomotsi also confirmed the return of Galabgwe Moyana from a loan spell at Polokwane City in South Africa.

The PRO further said Chiefs has promoted three youngsters from its development team.

“We have managed to get almost all players we wanted, so we are finished with the signing of new players. We were looking to strengthen the team by bringing in two defenders, two midfielders, and two strikers and all those positions have been filled now,” said Mogomotsi.

Mogomotsi cautioned that their exploits during the Barclays Kabelano Charity Spectacular should serve as a warning to Chiefs’ rivals.

“We want to go back to where we belong, which is at the top.

I believe people got a glimpse of what we are about during the Kabelano cup.”

On their crunch weekend encounter against log-leaders BDF XI, he said, “It will be a tough game for sure.  I cannot take anything away from them, they are a good team.”

Matebele trounced ECCO City Greens 4-1 last week with striker Vincent Nzombe finding the net in his first official outing in the army team’s shirt.

In their meetings last season, BDF XI won the first round match 2-0, but Chiefs gained their revenge in the second round with a 1-0 victory. ENDS
